Calling All Men to Join the UMM
Now is the time.  For 2014, make a commitment to join in God's work through St. Mark's men's ministries.  If you are not already part of St. Mark's UMMen, just send a note to Brad Powers at bpowers@goeaston.net or give him a ring at 410-822-7852 and have your name added to our information list.

You can decide if or when to attend meetings, activities, Bible studies, mission projects, or other events, but you won't have that opportunity if we don't know that you are interested.  By the way, at each meeting you attend, we ask that you make a contribution of $10.00 to defray our expenses and support our project activities.

Plans are being made for trips to sporting events, educational tours, gospel music shows, and opportunities to meet and discuss topics of interest with other men in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference.

Invite your friends and neighbors, whether they are members of St. Mark's or not.  We encourage all men of all ages to become involved in the UMMen.

If you are a man and you attend St. Mark's UMC, then you are a part of UMMen. Throughout the year there will be interesting presentations, opportunities to lend a helping hand to families right here in our community, projects where a little muscle is needed, great fellowship events and even opportunities to show off your culinary skills in the kitchen or on the grill. But, let's not forget that all these and a Bible study or two, added to the mix, are designed "TO HELP MEN GROW IN CHRIST SO OTHERS MAY KNOW CHRIST".

The only problem is, that we can't keep you up to date on all the ways UMMen are joining in God's work without an email address or phone number where you can be reached. So either send your email address to Brad Powers at bpowers@goeaston.net or call 410-822-7852 and leave your phone number. We now have contact information for 55 men. Why aren't you one of them?  --  Note - Bob Lawrence, the UMMen Treasurer, said to tell you that a free will offering will be collected at all meetings and many of our events. "That's how we can do all this stuff."

Upcoming Meetings: All monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM, in room 155 (across from Fellowship Hall), unless noted.

Please join us. Bring a friend.

August 9, 1:00 PM - 'til  <<<  UMMen ANNUAL COOKOUT >>> Fred Pond has, once again, invited the UMMen and our spouses or significant other to his beautiful, waterfront home for a cookout. We will have our usual free-will offering jar out for the men to add to our treasury ($10 suggested) and we ask that each couple or individual, as the case may be, bring a covered dish of your choosing. We will supply the hamburgers, hot dogs, condiments, drinks and paper products. We need some volunteers to help with set up. Robin Taylor has, once again, volunteered to use his trailer to move tables and chairs from the church to Fred’s, but he will need some help at the church and at Fred’s to move his furniture out of the way and set up tables. Someone needs to be responsible for providing coolers and pick up ice at the church. Please let me know if 1 – you are coming and 2 – if you can help.

September 9 - 7:00PM in room 155 - Volunteers in Mission and The African Experience by David Heistand.

Saturday, Oct. 4, 11:00AM – 2:00PM  <<< CHOPTANK RIVER LUNCH CRUISE >>>  from Suicide Bridge Restaurant. UMMen are inviting St. Mark’s congregation to join us in the opportunity to honor the ladies of the church. We will, most likely, carpool from the church.  Please sign up for the cruise by clicking on the following Cruise Registration.  Print the form, fill it in, write a check (memo "Cruise"),  and deliver it to the church office.

Special Pecometh Retreat Center Project  <<< SOUL-SEARCHING SWING SET >>>

Please take a look at the attached flier. We are moving forward with building the hexagonal swing set for the Riverview Retreat Center at Pecometh.  A number of good Samaritans have generously contributed the money to purchase the materials for building the swing set. Now it is up to us to do the construction.  Construction is planned on Saturdays in September. Contact me (Brad Powers) if you wish to help with construction at Pecometh. Thanks to Phil Rekitzke, Frank Myerle and Jim Scott for you planning efforts on this project.
